Bohdan Barulin

I build Python backends for businesses, and I ship them with a deploy tool I wrote in Go.

Computer science student in Lutsk, Ukraine. I like small, boring infrastructure that keeps working.

Experience

Backend developer, freelance

Dec 2025 – Aug 2026

A lead generation and outreach system for a client under NDA. FastAPI, PostgreSQL and HTMX, deployed on a Hetzner VPS.

  • A scraper for three large classifieds sites that processes 60,000 listings from one source in a two-hour run, through a pool of 250 rotating proxies.
  • A database of more than 450,000 seller records with listing history, filtered through a Procrastinate task queue and exported to Cloudflare R2.
  • Messaging through real Android phones over scrcpy and a WebSocket agent. Work that took three managers nine hours a day now takes one person three hours.

Automation developer, freelance

Spring 2026

Browser automation for multi-step sign-up and verification flows on a platform with strict bot protection: Camoufox with fingerprint management, ten parallel workers, and SMS APIs for one-time codes.

hakobu

Open source, Go, MIT

Deploys apps from GitHub to servers you own. Push to the default branch, and hakobu builds the new version and swaps it in with no downtime, behind a Cloudflare Tunnel, so the server needs no open ports.

  • Blue/green deploys with rollback, including the database
  • Postgres, Valkey and R2 storage per project
  • Encrypted backups that are test-restored after every upload
  • Sentry-compatible errors, logs and traces kept on your server
  • One binary with SQLite, rootless Docker, signed releases

Education

Second place at the Django Pub Hackathon: in a team of three, built sign-in with qualified electronic signatures in three days.
